As a preacher of the gospel, and Secretary of the Evangelical Movement of Wales for 35 years, John Elwyn Davies (1925- 2007) was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a true friend of many.
He was born in Rhostryfan and raised in Caernarfon. In 1943 he was received at Bala-Bangor eological College as a candidate for the ministry. He was President of the Student Christian Movement branch at the College and, after graduating in 1950, was ordained as minister of Jerusalem Congregational Chapel, Blaenau Ffestiniog. He married Mair, the daughter of the Rev. James Humphreys, in 1951.
In 1955, Elwyn was appointed Travelling Secretary for the IVF in Wales combining this role with the pioneering post of General Secretary of the Evangelical Movement.
With his keen mind and large heart, he was instrumental in guiding many to the door of life found in Christ, and he then provided for them by means of sermons, ‘seiadau’, churches, magazines, camps and conferences.
As well as an instructive introduction and many reminiscences by those who knew him well, this volume contains articles by Elwyn Davies himself including some previously unpublished material.
This is a unique volume, enabling us to appreciate the life and work of a servant of the Lord and a benefactor of his country.
